(Botox)
Botulinum Toxin (Botox)
DURATION
The treatment usually lasts for about 10-15 minutes.
ANESTHESIA
Usually not required. A local anesthetic cream can be applied to people who ask for it.
PAIN
Usually, the discomfort with Botox-Dysport treatment is minimal and short-term. Before the injection the doctor may choose to numb the area with cold compresses or anesthetic cream.
POSSIBLE IMPLICATIONS
Side effects are rare. There may be mild redness of the skin at the injection area. It usually takes one to two hours to return to its prior condition. Often one can experience mild bruising and also a mild headache that goes away within 24-48 hours.
Rarely, temporary drooping eyelids and / or diplopia may occur if BOTOX passes unexpectedly into nearby muscles.
Complications in the hands of an experienced doctor are extremely rare and all necessary precautions are taken to minimize the risk of the above complications.
BACK TO ACTIVITIES
Immediately without a problem.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or under 22 years old
If you suffer from neuromuscular diseases such as multiple sclerosis or Gravis myasthenia.
People who take anticoagulants and some anti-inflammatory drugs may develop some bruising.
RESULTS
The results will last up to 6 months. The result may differ between patients. Repeating the treatment at regular intervals, on average 2-3 times a year, prevents the recurrence of wrinkles. The frequency of treatments depends on the age of the person concerned and the strength of the muscles, as strong muscles with intense mobility require more frequent treatments.
BOTOX is a highly pure extract of Botulinum toxin A which is injected into the facial muscles to smooth out wrinkles and lines. It is usually applied to the wrinkles of the forehead, the mid eyebrow (wrinkles between the eyebrows), the eyelids (wrinkles around the eyes or otherwise the goose foot), and for wrinkles around the nose. Botulinum toxin treatment can also be used for eyebrow straightening.
Botulinum toxin is eliminated from the body within three to six months and muscle mobility returns to the exact previous levels. Expression wrinkles are caused by the contraction of facial muscles. The muscles with the constant contraction “pull” the skin covering them thus it “breaks” into wrinkles. The botulinum toxin is injected into specific areas and temporarily blocks the nerve that would otherwise command the muscle to contract. It is a painless, safe, non-invasive treatment, which offers a youthful appearance with fast and visible results. It has been used for over 40 years in ophthalmology and neurology, in doses many times higher than those used by plastic surgeons to reduce wrinkles. It is completely safe as it acts only locally at the injection site and is eliminated from the body within six months.
Botulinum toxin (BOTOX-DYSPORT) temporarily blocks the transmission of stimuli from the nerves to the muscles, which cause wrinkles, allowing them to relax. Normal expressions are not affected.
Although the results are visible, the treatment will not radically change the appearance of your face. The activity of the muscles that cause wrinkles and lines is temporarily reduced, so you can still make expressions but without the wrinkles.
If you do not continue the treatments, the wrinkles and lines will gradually return to the condition they were before the treatment.
The drug is sensitive to high temperatures and therefore exposure to the sun and high temperatures can inactivate it and not achieve the desired result. It is recommended to avoid massaging at the infusion area during the same day, as well as to avoid using sauna, hair dryer and sunbathing for up to three days after the treatment.
