Brow Lift (Forehead Lift or Browplasty)

ANESTHESIA

A brow lift procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia.

PAIN

The procedure does not cause pain, but the patient experiences a mild numbness that improves with time. However, there is swelling, especially during the first 24 hours after surgery, that begins to subside gradually in the next postoperative days.

SCARS

There are scars, but they are inconspicuous since they are small and well hidden in the hair.

RETURN TO WORK - EVERYDAY ACTIVITIES

Usually in a week

DURATION OF RESULTS

This question is quite difficult to be answered since each one has different skin and tissues’ quality as well as different habits (sun exposure, smoking).
Unfortunately, the ‘real-time clock’ does not stop and the patient continues to age even after the surgery.
However, the patient looks younger, more relaxed and “rejuvenated” even after 10-15 years.

The forehead lift is also known as brow lift because it reshapes and lifts the (sagging) brows that have fallen due to age or heredity, creating a tired, sad or grumpy appearance.

TECHNIQUES
There are two methods:
• Open brow lift: an incision is made across the scalp from ear to ear.
• Endoscopic brow lift (the most common one): in this case, three small incisions (about 2cm) are made in the scalp. By using an endoscope (a thin tube with camera on the end), the skin and the muscles are removed from the skull and are replaced with the use of special absorbable materials, which hold the tissues at the new position without skin removal.
